Marine Parade (East)

Marine Parade - Divine Oyster Producing Pearls

Marine Parade, formerly a British naval base, is now a beautiful and scenic vacation venue. Strolling along the coastline, one can see green trees, white beaches and red walkways, all accentuated by the clear blue sky and pristine clouds. Neat and graceful HDB flats are just a stone's throw away. All these provide the eyes with a sumptuous feast.

Some say Marine Parade is the land from which the general commands. However, there is no high mountain to provide support, therefore this formation does not stand. Actually, this elongated piece of land is a combination of two feng shui formations - the divine oyster producing pearls and ruyi falling to the ground - the pearl from the divine oyster drops onto the ruyi.

According to feng shui, ruyi found in coastal areas are usually cut and polished from white jade. On top of that, the pearl on the ruyi is from divine oyster. In feng Shui, such a composition is extremely favourable and rare.

The ruyi used to be a tool that royal and noble families used for scratching their backs to relieve itch. As that royal and noble families used for scratching their backs to relieve itch. As time went by it became more and more exquisite and was even decorated with rare jade, rendering it capable of massaging the back and dispelling rheumatism. Finally the ruyi became a precious ornament and was no longer delegated the lowly task of scratching backs. Its old task was filled by a tool invented for the sole purpose of scratching backs - buqiuren, literally not begging anyone. With it, you don't need to beg anyone to help scratch you back anymore!

Ruyi is a Symbol of Authority

Later, the emperor used ruyi as an imperial reward. Having in your possession a ruyi bestowed by the emperor was equivalent to having the emperor's authority to execute his orders.

In feng shui, the land of ruyi is one of authority and when combined with the land of divine oyster producing pearls, it is even more favourable for people pursuing careers with the civil service. Long time residents need to be benevolent to enjoy the fortune bestowed, or it will lead to sickness.

Although such a piece of land is favourable for government officials, the feng shui here can make people arrogant and authoritarian. Thus, residents who enjoy authority enhanced by feng shui should not flaunt their authority. Those who are ostentatious will find their fortunes reduced while those who are unpretentious will have their fortunes multiplied. Therefore, officials should project a friendly and approachable image.

Marine Parade is close to the sea, where the breeze has a high salt content. Metallic furniture is not advisable, but glass or wooden furniture is acceptable. Decorations should be kept simple, clean and tidy. Do not amass bric-a-brac in the house.

The wind here is strong but not chilly. To live in a windy location, one has to be amiable. Always teach your children to be courteous and to do volunteer work. As this is a land of high-ranking officials, children's studies will be smooth-going, and those who do well can become officials. But the children will be as opened minded as the wind is free, and since an oyster land is yin those who are successful will encounter undesirable flowers of romance, ie, be plagued by extramarital affairs. Therefore, Marine Parade residents must take care to remain morally upright and not succumb to the lure of the yin oyster or they will lose their status and have their reputations ruined.

The sea breeze in Marine Parade is different from the other kinds of sea breeze or mountain wind, and residents living in high-rise flats here should take care not to catch a cold.
