Mandai (Central)

Mandai (Central) - Toad Land

If a place already enjoys good feng shui and a splendid land form, a refined and appropriate name will be the icing on the cake. On the other hand, an inauspicious name will ruin the favourable feng shui and adversely change the land form.

Marsiling -Changing a Bad Name

A good example is Marsiling, situated in the north of Singapore. Originally the land of flying horse crossing the ridge , it unfortunately took the name of Marsiling, which sounds like horse carcass ridge in Mandarin. On this land, an expressway cuts through the horse's waist, slicing it in half. It will be hard for this horse to take off.

However, readers should not misinterpret and assume that the BKE is undesirable. In fact, the BKE has helped improve traffic flow in the northern region of the island, shortening travel time for many people. Time is life and money.

Expressways are very important to Singapore's economic development. An expressway might be capable of affecting many feng shui dens, but the aura of the land is capable of reforming itself and the reformation might even usher in a brighter future.

Mandai, neighbouring Marsiling and Woodlands, has a land form that belongs to the toad in the study of feng shui. The outstanding features of this land are a bulging front and a lower back, symbolising a toad. Other characteristics include an environment filled with streams, reservoirs or seas. A shortage of water in the surroundings will mean the area is no longer a toad land. As the ancient saying goes: When the toad becomes a deity and turns into an earth dragon, its dens will overflow with money. If accompanied by a lotus pond, it will not be long before one becomes a high court official.

The back of a toad is full of protuberances that look like ancient coins. On its head is a crown with the Chinese character for emperor. According to feng shui, it is an excellent and rare den. An ancient book stated that the neck of the toad corresponds to prosperity, crown to power and status, back to academic success, private parts to descendants' happiness and longevity.

Empress Toad

The country's biggest and most favourable toad site, known as emperor toad is the Buddhist cemetery

The next most favourable toad site is the empress toad located at the back of the Mandai Columbarium in Mandai, which is also the site of the toad's mouth.

Residents of a toad land with several ponds or wells will do well in their careers, enjoy the respect of their virtuous descendants and achieve high social status.
