Strong Dragon Rearing Its Head, Bukit Batok Produces Talents
Most visitors to Guilin in China will agree with the saying: Guilin has the best scenery. The shapes of the mountains are unique and the view when reflected in the lake is spectacular.
Singapore has its own version of Guilin - Little Guilin. Although the view is not as majestic and breathtaking, the oddly-shaped stone structures when reflected in the lake bear a slight similarity.
The stone of Little Guilin is terrazzo, which in the early days was mined as construction material. The explosions set off moulded the look of Little Guilin today.
Bukit Batok New Town is the only new town built within this stone forest, with flats challenging the hills in height. When the town was finally completed and residents had moved in, many strange but colourful tales surfaced. A careful analysis will reveal the influence of feng shui on the area.
Feng shui views Bukit Batok as the strong dragon rearing its head. This formation resulted from the dragon's flight being blocked by Bukit Panjang Hill and Bukit Timah Hill.
In feng shui, earth symbolises the dragon's flesh, stones form the dragon's bones, grass is the dragon's hair and the scenery the dragon's clouds. Although we are unable to see a real dragon in Singapore, we can feel the vigour of the strong dragon.
Bukit Batok is like the dragon eager to take flight. This land formation is suitable for public housing or government offices, but not industrial estates. In 1996, all the large factories in Hillview Avenue and Bukit Batok were resettled. The government then redeveloped the area into an upmarket residential estate. More strong dragons (successful people) are expected to be attracted here in future, thereby fulfilling the feng shui formation of the strong dragon rearing its head.
People living on the land of the strong dragon should ideally have blessed destinies, only then will they prosper day by day. On the other hand, residents with weak destinies will suffer poor health and bad luck.
Bukit Batok often sees a high rainfall and mists often creep in under the cover of the night. At year end, when the northwest and northeast winds are strong, it can get very chilly, and this is especially so with the high hills and stone structures. Residents chronically down with the flu should not sleep near windows, especially in rooms facing the north, northwest and northeast. Choose red and other bright colours for the interior of your house and avoid metallic furniture.
Bukit Batok may be chilly, but it is blessed with breathtaking scenery, fresh air and gentle wind. This environment is good for literary and artistic ventures. Little wonder then so many talents live in this area, especially writers spinning romance or ghost stories. However, Bukit Batok is less suitable for people who are in weak mental or emotional states, or are melancholic.
Residents of this estate must never be the aggressors and should cherish harmony. They will be able to live here peacefully for a long time if they are not stubborn. Many Bukit Batok resident practise Taoism. Those practising wushu and qigong must be calm and focused as the land of the strong dragon emanates a magnetic field which may disturb the deep concentration required during practice. Thus, exercise caution during practice sessions to avoid getting distracted.
武吉巴督-强龙顿首

新加坡也有个小桂林山，虽没有桂林的高，水也没有桂林的美，但怪石麟峭、湖水映照，倒有几分桂林的神韵。
实际上，新加坡小桂林的石山并非桂林的钟乳石，而是坚硬的花岗岩组成。早期采石公司在这一带采石，东炸一块，西炸一块，终于形成了今天的奇妙景色。
武吉巴督新镇是唯一建在山林中的新镇组屋与山齐高，雄峙成趣。因为这一特殊的情形，当新镇建成，居民刚迁入就有许多传奇故事传播开来。乍听之下，煞有其事，细想之下，却和风水息息相关。
武吉巴督在风水学上称为“强龙顿首”前方又有武吉班让山及武吉知马山，使这过岭的飞蛇不得不顿着，产生了这个强龙顿首地。
在风水学上，土为龙之肉，石是龙之骨，草是龙的毛，景是龙的云。新加坡虽看不见气魄非凡的龙踪龙迹，但这武吉巴督的强龙顿首却让我们深深感受到龙脉的气魄。
这条龙时而潜地，时而跃起飞上九霄云天。飞跃时，就会弓起全身，以便一跃冲天。武吉巴督的强龙顿首地，就如龙欲腾空之势。
“强龙顿首”的格局利于居住或成为重要的政府机关，并不利于发展大型的工业。1996年政府重新规划此地区，把山景道、武吉巴督一带的大型工厂全部迁出，改为高级住宅区，将来必定会吸引更多的强龙到此地来居住，正应了强龙顿首的格局。
当然住在强龙之处的人，若命理八字强，就会越住越旺；若住的人命理八字弱，就体弱多病，运霆气衰了。
这区是雨量最丰富的一区，几乎每晚深夜大雾弥漫，加上年尾西北、东北风太盛，周围山势高又多石，寒气太强，所以居住此区的朋友，如常患伤风感冒，就别睡在近西北、北及东北方之房间，且宜睡离窗户。家中的色彩最好采用红及亮丽的颜色，千万别采用深暗的颜色，最好也别摆放太多的铁器家具。
武吉巴督区寒气虽盛，但风景优美、空气清新、山风习习，每逢下雨时，风如虎啸龙吟，更添几份诗情画意。这样的环境，对于从事文学创作、艺术工作者最好不过。难怪武吉巴督区出了许多俊秀的人才，尤其是在这里写爱情小说或鬼怪故事，更能发挥创作者的才思。但对于一些精神衰弱且多愁善感之人就不太适合居住了，特别是晚间失眠开窗对着麟向怪石，树影在张牙舞爪，倍增恐惧感。
很快地，新加坡国术总会也将迁入此区，真是强龙会猛龙。在此地，千万不要做“出头龙”，也不要强出头。凡事以和为贵，性格不要太倔强，才能长居久安。
武吉巴督住宅区多修道人居住。在此区修练武术及气功时最重要是凝神静气，切莫心浮气燥。因为强龙所在之处，磁力线较强，很容易干扰思潮，使人不能安定。所以，学道的朋友千万要小心，以免走火入魔。
