Sengkang (East)

Sengkang - Frog Land

Sengkang New Town is located near Sungei Serangoon and sits between Hougang and Punggol New Town.

There is an executive condominium here called the Rivervale, which is known as Carp River Garden in Chinese.

Taking Sungei Serangoon to be a carp river has nothing to do with feng shui. Carps need to be near the beach where freshwater and seawater meet. The water must be deep and the current strong. Although Sungei Serangoon resembles a fish, it does not meet the above criteria and so, cannot be considered a carp river.

Despite Sungei Serangoon and the lotus land of Hougang being closely related, Sungei Serangoon is actually a frog land. Before Sengkang was developed, frogs could be seen everywhere. However, all the frogs are in hiding now. The frogs mate here while the tadpoles grow up in Sungei Serangoon.

Frogs, tortoises and snakes are considered heavenly creatures and can survive both on land and in water. For a human being to acquire this ability, one first needs to attain a high level of cultivation. This explains the number of places of worship built on this frog land, which might also mean that people with great abilities like to cultivate themselves here.

Residents of the frog land are quick thinking, laid back, magnanimous with mild tempers and tenacious in handling pojects of their interest. As the frog land is also lucky, people with weak wills and no ambition may, after receiving some good luck, become lazy and start to daydream about getting rich without working for it. However, those with strong wills and great ambitions will benefit from this land and be able to apply their wisdom in daily life.
