Clementi (West) - Imps Transporting Gold

Clementi is the land of windfallsClementi is known as the land of incense burner or the land of imps transporting gold. It is natural then for residents to be blessed with good fortune and high chances of receiving a windfall.

However, there is a slight disadvantage - the imps that bring the gold will also spirit it away. Thus, wealth will come and go very quickly. Residents must remember that once wealth is accumulated, treasure it and guard it well or all will be lost.

Clementi is a basin land. A basin land is deemed auspicious in both feng shui and geography. Examples are Singapore's former Bukit Timah Turf Club, Happy Valley in Hong Kong and Sichuan, China which are all very rare and rich lands.

Clementi's basin has many special features - Bukit Timah Hill supports the rear, a low hill at Toh Tuck Road the west and a hillock at Ulu Pandan near Sunset Way the east. Though Clementi faces the sea, the slightly higher ground of West Coast Park keeps the qi from escaping out to sea. This basin land resembles an incense burner with the higher points of Ulu Pandan and Toh Tuck Road forming the two ears. This incense burner land is also known as a golden treasure basin.

Clementi has two very important rivers - the Ulu Pandan River flowing along Sunset Way towards Ulu Pandan, and Sungei Pandan which flows by Toh Tuck Road towards Pandan Garden and into the sea. Due to the presence of these two rivers, Clementi's land form is not a pure golden treasure basin or the land of incense burner, but two imps stealing gold. This leads to wealth being shifted or stolen, thus residents may experience fluctuations in wealth.

The stolen gold was transported along Sungei Pandan to the river mouth where Pandan Garden is, and then to the back of the Sheng Hong Temple to form a small den, creating a small incense burner. As these two imps were actually water spirits under the charge of the Seng Ong deity, the temple was able to expand quickly within a few years. It is hard to deny that feng shui has something to do with it.

Clementi residents who run small businesses will accumulate modest wealth, and with heaven's help can become wealthier. Together with the help of feng shui, many have received windfalls.

People with strong destinies can make good use of the riches bestowed by heaven, and with hard work things will go their way. But people with weak destinies who are greedy and make no effort to improve themselves, and instead indulge in gambling, will end up heavily in debt despite heaven's blessings. As such, one who moves cautiously will find it easy to amass wealth here, but improper desires for windfalls are unlikely to come true.
